The more I’m travelling, hotel and a place of my accommodation are becoming more and more important to me. It’s a place where I’m relaxing, so I love having a restaurant and some extra amenities like a swimming pool or a spa in it. Location is of course very important to me, as well. And a hotel has to be close to the city center or public transport. When I’m travelling with my family I also like a hotel room to be spacious, so we have enough room and privacy in it.
Well, with the Best Western Premier Alsterkrug Hotel in Hamburg I’ve ticked almost all of these requirements. It’s a lovely hotel, very convenient for people coming to Hamburg with a car or via the airport. But, it’s also a classy hotel with great service, very good restaurant and a spa center where you can spoil yourself with a massage after a long trip. I’ve spent three days there during my weekend in Hamburg and would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to it!
Hotel location – Alsterdorf Neighbourhood
Best Western Premier Alsterkrug Hotel is located in the Alsterdorf neighbourhood in a northern part of Hamburg. It’s a lovely residential area and even though it is not the very city center I would definitely stay there again. It was named after the River Alster and it’s filled with beautiful old villas and large houses. Rather than taking a bus, I would walk to the nearby U-Bahn station each morning and evening, just to enjoy strolling through its peaceful streets. Hotel is located some 100 meters from the Alster River and there is a beautiful promenade next to it. So it’s a lovely place for a walk, as well.
There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel. You can catch a bus there and change then for the U-Bahn that’s going to take you to the city center. Or, you can do the same as I did and walk for 15 minutes to the U-Bahn station. In both cases, you’ll need around 30 minutes to get to the centre of Hamburg. One of the things I really liked is that a hotel is providing all of its guests with a free three day public transport tickets during their stay. So, you can just hop on and off and explore the city on your own pace.
Hotel Amenities
From the moment I’ve seen the hotel I knew I’d love it! It has that homelike feel and I really felt very comfortable and relaxed there. It has to look beautiful during the Christmas time when its brick façade is decorated with Christmas lights and decoration.
# – Hotel Garage
We’ve travelled to Hamburg with a car, so it was really convenient that a hotel had a garage where we could park our car and forget about it during our stay there. Although that service will cost you 15 euros per day, it was nice not having to worry about something happening to it.
# – Hotel Restaurant
The hotel has four stars and it’s justifying them, by having spacious rooms, a very good restaurant at the ground floor and a spa center. After almost six hours of being on a road, once we came to the hotel we were starving. So, one of the first things we did, was heading to the hotel restaurant having a nice lunch there. Breakfast was also included in the price of our room and it was a proper continental breakfast with a variety of food to choose from. I especially liked oatmeal porridge and a mixture of fresh fruit. Service was very good and they were especially sweet with my son, offering him extra cocoa during the breakfast or crayons and a paper to draw while we were waiting for our food.
# – Hotel Spa
The hotel also has fitness facilities and a spacious spa area included in a room price. Finnish sauna, soft sauna, steam bath and wellness-showers are just some of the things you can spoil yourself with during your stay. It was so lovely, I wouldn’t mind going back right away.
Rooms at the Best Western Premier Alsterkrug Hotel
Whenever I’m travelling with my family we love having a larger room. That way everyone could have some privacy and enough space for their things. Marijan and I can also stay up longer after Karlo is asleep and enjoy in a glass of wine together.
We were in a Family Room which was spacious and just perfect for our three day stay. It was large enough so Karlo could play with his cars and planes in the evening. It also had a beautiful view on a park behind the hotel and there was plenty of light in it because of those huge windows.
Our room had a large double bed (one night all three of us slept in it and there was plenty of space for all of us). Hotel staff was actually so sweet to provide both a single bed and a baby crib for Karlo, so we could choose which one would suit him better. These little things are making such a big difference and that’s why I would definitely stay again in this hotel. The room also had a working desk, TV, mini bar and a coffee machine, so basically everything you could need during your stay. The bathroom was very classy with its marble decoration and orchid flowers. It almost looked like a part of the spa area.
So, all in all, Best Western Premier Alsterkrug Hotel in Hamburg is a wonderful hotel with that homey feeling, great amenities and a professional (but also personal) service. It’s a great hotel for couples that would like to enjoy its restaurant and spa. But, also for families looking for spacious rooms and a lovely quiet neighbourhood with many parks and green areas around it. I will definitely stay again in this hotel when in Hamburg!
