Some stories are best told in person. That’s why, every quarter, I’m organising a special themed art tour to get us off our screens and into the galleries together.
Upcoming Tour: Rijksmuseum Highlights & Hidden Secrets
- When: Saturday, 9 May 2026, 10 am – 12 pm (CET)
- Where: Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
- Price: 30 EUR (excluding museum entry)
- The Vibe: An intimate, deep-dive walk with a small group of art lovers
Our next event is all about the art of the 17th-century Amsterdam: we’ll immerse ourselves in the masterpieces of Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer, Frans Hals and Judith Leyster, but with a twist: we’ll be looking at the people behind the paint.
Who were the ambitious Amsterdammers who commissioned these works? And why does Dutch art from this era look so radically different from the rest of Europe? We’ll trace the DNA of modern Dutch society hidden within these canvases, uncovering stories of power, commerce, and daily life.
We’ll dive deep into the Night Watch restoration, look for the Amsterdam’s coat of arms within it, and talk about some unexpected people you can find in the famous painting. We’ll finish our tour by bridging a two-century gap, discovering how some of these Old Masters influenced the most famous Dutch modern painter, Vincent van Gogh.

Past Tours: Women in the Rijksmuseum Collection
- When: Sunday, 8 March, 10 am – 12 pm (CET)
- Where: Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
- Price: 30 EUR (excluding museum entry)
- The Vibe: An intimate, deep-dive walk with a small group of art lovers
Our next event is a very special first for Culture Tourist: Women in the Rijksmuseum collection. We’ll be meeting on International Women’s Day to walk through the museum and uncover the incredible stories of the women who shaped history.
We won’t just be looking at “muses” on a canvas. Instead, we’re going to find the warriors, the savvy businesswomen, the activists, and the pioneering female artists who changed the course of art history. Even if you’ve been to the Rijksmuseum a dozen times, I promise you’ll leave seeing these galleries in a whole new light.
