I was looking for that perfect small travel camera for a long time. Something with great photo quality, easy to use and something that would fit into my handbag. Since I got asked very often about the camera I use, I’ve decided to write my Lumix GX80 review. So, here it is!
Panasonic Lumix GX80 Review
What am I using my camera for?
Well, I’m not a professional photographer. So, this is not going to be a review filled with all these technical terms (which I don’t understand at all, to be honest). I’m using my camera for my travel blog (so I need great photos of cities and landscapes) and for my postcards business (so I also need it for details on drawings).
I’m also often travelling with my 3-year-old son, and I need something easy to use. And since, to be honest, I’m not that good with technology, I need something user-friendly.
And this camera is excellent for all of these!
Things I love the most about Panasonic Lumix GX80 camera:
#1 – Camera that’s super light!
That was one of my top priorities when I was looking for a new camera. I love travelling light. I usually only have my handbag when I’m out exploring new cities. If I’m travelling during the winter months and I have my coat on, I love having my camera inside of it. And Lumix GX80 is great for it. It’s small, it’s light, and I often forget that I have it with me at all.
#2 – Camera with a great auto setting!
I hate reading camera (or any technology) manuals. Well, I know, it’s not something to be proud of. And, since I don’t want to lose too much time playing with settings, I’m mostly using my camera on ‘auto’. And it works perfectly for me.
#3 – Camera with awesome settings!
I know I said I’m not using many of them. But, some are really awesome, and they’re helping me taking these beautiful photos. #4 – Camera that’s easy to use!
That’s definitely one of my favourite things about this camera. It’s so easy to use. From adjusting the lenses, taking pictures, choosing different effects on them or transporting them from the camera to your laptop (it has wifi built in it), Lumix GX80 is so easy to use. I’m often swamped (well, who isn’t these days) and I don’t have a lot of time to spend playing with my camera. So, being easy to use is definitely one of the biggest benefits for me.
#5 – Camera that looks vintage!
I just love that vintage design my camera has. It looks so classy with its little leather part. Design is definitely not something that will make you buy a camera. But I think a beautiful design is definitely a bonus!
Well, they say that picture speaks a thousand words. So, here are some of the photos I’ve taken with my Lumix GX80 during my trip to Leuven in Belgium (click on pics for larger versions).
For whom this camera is?
- Travellers, definitely – You can fit it in your handbag and take it out of it very quickly. I’m using photos taken with it for my travel blog, so I need excellent quality for them. And this camera definitely fulfils that purpose.
- Small business owners – I’m also using this camera for taking pictures for my colouring postcards business. I can adjust its focus to a part of the postcard I want. And I’m not losing too much time on editing photos later on. So, definitely a win-win situation for me.
- Parents – Well, beside being a travel blogger and a small business owner, I’m also a parent. I’ve taken some of the most beautiful photos of my son with this camera. It’s easy to carry it with you, and you can take photos so quickly (before that precious moment is over) without losing your time on fixing and adjusting lenses.
Lumix GX80 is definitely my favourite small camera. And I hope this review is going to make your decision on buying your perfect camera easier.
