December was festive! It was filled with Christmas markets, cookie baking and Christmas movies. And it started in the best possible way – with a three days in Barcelona.

I loved everything in Barcelona, architecture, food, people and its spirit! I was mostly amazed with Gaudi’s architecture and Sagrada Familia Church in particular. I am working on the post dedicated to it, so keep an eye on the blog if you don’t want to miss it!

Christmas markets

I did my research on time this year and compiled the list with the Christmas markets in the Netherlands. Unfortunately I visited only three, markets in Haarlem, Leiden and Amsterdam. But I realized that the Netherlands has a lot to offer regarding it, so I’m already looking forward to the next year!

My son was finally big enough to understand a bit more about Christmas, so he was helping us decorating our Christmas tree and eating all the cookies. We watched Christmas version of ‘Barnie and Friends’ at least a hundred times. It was the first Christmas ever that I felt like we have our own small, but proper family here and that we’re celebrating a family Christmas together.

Christmas Day

We were planning to go to Maastricht for the Christmas weekend, but the weather forecast was so bad, that we canceled the trip at the end. Instead, we spent our Christmas Day in Amsterdam. We went to Rijksmuseum to see Frans Post’s ‘Animals in Brazil’, small exhibition of the drawings of animals he made while traveling through Brazil. There was a Christmas market on the Museumplein and already traditional ice skating field. It really put us in the Christmas mood, so we couldn’t resist a glass of a mulled wine at the lunch, as well.

Goodbye 2016!

To be honest, I can’t believe 2016 is already over. It was a great year for me and I hope 2017 will be even better. I am working on some planning on my business and blogging, so I hope you will see improvements here as well.

I wish you all a great 2017! I hope it will be happy, exciting and filled with traveling!
