Workshops for expats

Workshop: Dutch (hi)story

For Whom:

The workshop is an ideal introduction to Dutch culture and history for expats living in the Netherlands.

Research shows that traveling and getting a better understanding of a new culture helps expats with stress relief and transition. It can also help reduce feelings of depression and loneliness and enable newcomers to adapt better to their new surroundings.

Highlights

During this fun and very interactive workshop, you’re going to learn about:

#1 – Dutch history
To understand Dutch culture, we should first understand its history. Games, such as a puzzle about the Dutch Golden Age and a memory game about famous Dutch painters, will help us learn more.
#2 – Symbols of the country
Windmills, bicycles, tulips, wooden shoes… We’re going to talk about all of them. But we’re also going to look at some other interesting national symbols you’re probably less familiar with.
#3 – Dutch culture
Dutch food is one of the most discussed topics in the international community here. What better excuse to taste a few local delicacies? We’re also going to talk about Dutch popular culture, some famous Dutch inventions, and find out what ‘orange madness’ is.
After two hours of learning about Dutch culture with all our senses – listening to music, looking at some famous paintings and old photos, and sampling some food – you’ll leave the workshop with a much better knowledge of the Low Countries.

Workshops can be organized for companies hiring expats. For more information please contact us.
